Stevens Group and RedBlack Software deliver CyBake/Vantage interface to cut production costs
YORK, ENGLAND – FEBRUARY 8, 2010 – Nantwich, Cheshire-based bakery Arthur Chatwin will be the first British baker to implement a brand-new software interface between Stevens Group's Vantage and RedBlack Software's CyBake systems.

Stevens Group's Vantage systems provide recipe weighing, traceability and stock management solutions. The new interface with RedBlack Software's CyBake business management software delivers precise data on batch requirements and batch costs that is accurately linked to recipes. Purchase orders can be linked to goods-in while recording and amending all ingredient costs. Suppliers' invoices can be matched to deliveries for further cost-control.
The new interface between the two systems has been developed for bakers who use CyBake to control order and sales processing, purchase order processing and delivery management in the back office and Stevens Group's Vantage systems for controlling work on the shop floor.
Stevens Group's commercial manager Toby Hawkins explains: "The CyBake/Vantage interface means that bakers don't have to enter recipes into both systems and ensures that what they think they are making and what they think they are spending on raw materials is accurate. When bakers get their orders and enter them into CyBake, the Vantage system will communicate and formulate what actually needs to be made on the production floor. This means that bakers won't under- or over-produce, thus reducing time and waste as well as increasing product consistency and profitability. In essence, the CyBake/Vantage interface links the theoretical with the actual."

By using the CyBake/Vantage interface, bakers can keep a better control of their costs and margins, according to Jane Tyler, managing director of RedBlack Software.
"CyBake sends the information across to the Vantage weighing station to say how much needs to be weighed out and Vantage sends CyBake information back about exactly how much has been used," says Tyler. "CyBake takes that precise information, tallies it up against the cost information within our system and this gives the baker the exact production cost for a mix or a batch."
The new CyBake/Vantage interface adds a new dimension to cost-analysis by marrying up historical data so bakers can take a snapshot of any point in time to tell them exactly what each product has cost for that period and what was produced.
"Bakers can think they are making a 40% profit on a product but in fact they’re only making 10% because ingredient prices have been hiked up and they weren’t aware that they’ve been increased or they are using too much ingredient in the product," says Tyler.
With the new CyBake/Vantage interface, bakers can also use Stevens Group's goods-in systems to accurately tally information with CyBake's production data on goods-out to effectively close the loop on stock control.
The CyBake/Vantage software interface is available now from either RedBlackSoftware or Stevens Group.
